We are searching for a Clerical Secretary - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you'll provide clerical assistance and coordinate services to assist professional nursing personnel with administrative detail in an assigned Hospital unit, and act as a receptionist for the nursing unit.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills by collaborating with unit personnel, management team, physicians, and ancillary departments in a timely manner to ensure cohesive interactions
  • Prioritizes activities to ensure the efficiency of the unit
  • Attends or reads all scheduled meetings as indicated for unit/Hospital (eg., staff meetings
  • Participates in the orientation of new staff as directed by manager and/or education coordinator
  • Demonstrate flexibility with daily assignments and covering for other clerical secretaries as needed (e.g. breaks, lunches, PTO, absences)
  • Notifies the incoming secretary of incomplete work or other pertinent information that needs attention during their absence or end of the scheduled shift
  • Notifies the appropriate department of any charge in patient status when informed by Charge Nurse/Staff Nurse
  • Responds appropriately during emergency situations
  • Maintains patient paperwork (i.e., orders, H&P, test results, daily log sheet, etc.) in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Assists nursing staff as directed by responding to requests in an appropriate fashion through timely response, prioritizing requests, consolidating non-stats, and delegating off unit errands
  • Enters all requests into the computer accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintains levels of HIS computer supplies and ascertains proper functioning of HIS equipment and identifies and notifies HIS of equipment problems

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of one (1) year of secretary experience in a hospital setting is preferred
  • Knowledge of word processing software
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
