Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implementing, configuring, and maintaining the hosted infrastructure supporting a set of client-facing, web-based applications
  • Performing optimization and performance tuning on large complex databases
  • Identify, create, and implement changes to queries and stored procedures to enhance database performance
  • Act as the primary expert on database performance, working closely with Software Development to produce optimized queries and stored procedures
  • Owning, tracking, and resolving database-related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs
  • Reviewing service related reports (database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved
  • Monitoring, regulating, capacity planning, backup, and recovery planning of database
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues impacting the operation of the infrastructure; proactively escalating any issues that cannot be solved within the established timeframe
  • Documenting internal processes and procedures related to database administration
  • Establishing and maintaining communication with internal technology customers to keep them updated on the status of issues or requests
  • Conducting research on current setup and on future hardware and software products and services, making recommendations, including budget and performance analytics
  • Maintaining quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards

Skills & Qualifications
  • Advanced Microsoft SQL Server experience including management of servers, Active Directory, proper disk configurations, and writing queries
  • Demonstrated expertise in database performance tuning and optimization
  • In depth knowledge of SQL, queries, and stored procedures
  • Expert Knowledge of SQL Server internals, memory management, caching."
  • Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models
  • Knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for MSSQL Server
  • Advanced scripting skills; experience in implementing operational automation using scripts
  • Expert knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics
  • Ability to work with hosted and cloud servers
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience, with preference given to those with 7+ years
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Certifications are a plus: MCTS, MCITP, MCDBA (2014)
