We are searching for an Operating Engineer - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you'll perform operations and maintenance activities including, but not limited to: engineering rounds, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, general maintenance and repairs of hospital equipment and buildings including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems in accordance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory agency codes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitors equipment, responds to alarms and emergencies, and performs maintenance duties in assigned areas to ensure facility equipment and systems are functioning properly
  • Performs preventive maintenance duties on buildings, building systems, and equipment as assigned according to standards established by management team
  • Performs corrective maintenance duties on buildings, building systems, and equipment as assigned according to standards established by management team
  • Demonstrates ownership for responsibilities in assigned zone and other designated areas
  • Ensures effective communication and work flow for responsibilities in assigned zone as demonstrated by maintaining good rapport and cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Completes activities in a manner that maximizes effectiveness of the task and minimizes the impact to the customer

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Licensure or certification in ONE of the following:
    • Associate's Degree or higher in service-related or technology field of study (EDU HR USE)
    • Active Stationary Engineer's license issued by the City of Houston http://www.nasoe.org/ipa/texas.asp (STATENGI, STATENG2, or STATENG3)
    • Journeyman's license in Plumbing (JRNYPLUM) issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners http://www.tsbpe.state.tx.us/
    • Journeyman's license in Electrical (JRNYELEC) issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/electricians/elec.htm
    • Department of Labor Apprenticeship program (DLA) www.dol.gov/featured/apprenticeship
    • Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA) designation issued by the Building Owners and Manager Institute International http://www.bomi.org/SMA.aspx
    • Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) designation issued by the Building Owners and Manager Institute International http://www.bomi.org/SMT.aspx
    • Master Electrician License issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/electricians/elec.htm (MASTELEC)
    • Commercial HVAC State B License with C endorsement issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/acr/acrfaq.htm#Licensing (HVACB WC)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a service technician.
  • Experience working in a hospital environment preferred
