Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform thermal, electrical, mechanical, environmental, and photometric testing of ABL products required for third party safety Certification and ensure products meet internal and external specification. (Testing is based on an adaptation of generic Certification body test method to the specific products and includes set-up, testing, reporting and interpretation of results to product groups. This includes testing of digital, analog, and mixed-signal electronic circuits for lighting and lighting controls.)
  • Compiling test reports to provide the laboratory customer accurate metrics of what our products do and at what level of efficiency and cost savings
  • Devise new means of testing non-standard configurations of lighting fixtures
  • Physically mount test items in thermal chambers, photometric test chambers and other parts of the laboratory where specific operations are required by UL and/or IES standards - e.g. salt spray testing, electrical testing, environmental testing etc.
  • Share accountability within the department to fulfill ABS/Lean initiatives. Uses Lean tools and KPI measures to maintain a consistent flow through the lab, and identify areas/activities in need of improvement
  • Maintaining computer documents and graphics to substantiate the results published in a final test report
  • Maintain lab space to meet 5S goals. Must maintain laboratory equipment and supplies in clean, reliable condition. Minimize cost of laboratory operations by being proactive in suggesting new, innovative means to achieve a specific company goal

Skills & Qualifications
  • 0-2 year's experience required, 3-5 years preferred in electrical and/or illumination engineering testing preferred
  • Experience with 3rd party safety certification process preferred
  • Associate or Technical degree required (Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • Should be qualified to perform test to UL standards, including UL 1598, 8750, and 924
